About "The Black Church in Louisville's West End: For Such a Time as This" Urban Ministry Leadership Seminar.

For generations, Black churches have served as anchors of faith, ministry, leadership, and community life throughout Louisville’s West End and other historically Black communities. Today, these congregations are ministering amid changing neighborhoods, shifting patterns of church participation, economic and housing challenges, generational transitions, and evolving community needs.

The Black Church in Louisville: For Such a Time as This is an Urban Ministry Leadership Seminar, a program of Black Church Studies at Louisville Seminary, presented in partnership with the West Louisville Urban Church Coalition, a ministry collaborative of Black churches located in Louisville’s West End and other historically Black faith communities throughout Louisville.

This interactive seminar will bring together pastors, clergy, church leaders, nonprofit leaders, and community partners to name significant challenges facing Black churches and the communities they serve and to consider how churches can respond faithfully and collaboratively.

The seminar will center collaboration as a ministry practice, exploring how Black churches can build upon their collective strengths, relationships, resources, and community partnerships to respond to shared challenges.

Through a leadership panel, small-group conversations, and facilitated discussion, participants will move from naming challenges to identifying opportunities for faithful action, with particular attention to what Black churches can accomplish together.
