Katherine and Martyn Dunn began helping animals in 2004. Katherine is the caretaker and nurturer of the animals, but Martyn is integral in all aspects of maintaining the farm. They do no not take salaries from the non profit-Martyn works as a landscaper and Katherine is an artist/writer. Katherine considers this her soul work. Her writing and art are all reflections of her life with the animals and she shares it with the outside world.

MISSION: Apifera Farm is a forever home/sanctuary to roughly 80 creatures- elder and special needs animals [and some young goofballs]. Equines, sheep, goats, pigs, llamas, ducks, geese, cats and dogs, chickens, one turkey and a very special pigeon call it home. The sanctuary also helps elder people or farms who have to give up their old animals due to health issues or life changes. They do not rehome animals, all animals are cared for for their entire remaining lives no matter how long.

SHARING: The Healing Barn provides a space to share the animals in intimate encounters with people in need of emotional healing. These are private sessions.

They also believe in the sharing the joy of the animals through story, art, videos and spontaneous visits to the local village with Harry the llama. In the past they made weekly visits to the elder care facilities.
