Updates

It seems like our updates go in waves; last week we had many and this week we have few. Regardless of what news each week brings, your support keeps Ukrainian soldiers safer, happier, and more effective.

This week, the 5th Assault Brigade sent a thank you for the large number of personal powerbanks.

Since this next one is special to UFL_Robin, I will let her explain:

"This is Monkey with Team Mongoose, currently in GUR Legion. UFL bought him the jacket and boots.

He's SUPER excited about them. He's been a soldier for like a decade, and this is the first time he's had such nice kit. He said he's aware now that he was suffering before. 😂 He was REALLY excited when he walked home in his new boots on the icy sidewalks of Kyiv, because for the first time, he wasn't slip-sliding all over the place."

$2 TACO Tuesday

This week's grab bag of goodies features a water bottle from the 43rd and a patch from the 25th. One of our volunteer contacts gave us this bracelet, and we are matching it with a Ukraine magnet. The "mine" warning placard is one of many that UFL helped provide throughout Ukraine, in cooperation with the Wildbees.

$5 112th Pack

UFL_Arcaist set you guys up with a killer pack this week! The 112th signed their flag and donated their brigade patch plus a Task Force Nobody unit patch. The twisted nails were part of the rehab for an injured soldier, plus it looks like the 112th insignia. A Ukraine flag patch joins a buhurt sich patch; for those of you who don't know about that (myself included), it's a historical reenactment organization used for rehabilitation for wounded soldiers.

These shot glasses are amazing; you can see the tryzub embedded in the side of them, and the 112th personalized it.

In closing:

Some weeks are more difficult than others for me, which makes me embarrassed when compared to what Ukrainians go through every day. My close friend in Kyiv recently had her father visit her in the city from where he lives in western Ukraine.

One morning, she noticed her father shivering badly with cold; my friend lives in a section of Kyiv whose centralized heating facility was destroyed by russia's war crimes. "I don't know how you got through the winter when it was -10 C," he told her.

While looking for something pithy or interesting to share this week, I came across a quote from World War I that unfortunately still applies all too well today:

"War fatigue – this is the most stupid word of our time. War fatigue, being tired of war means being tired of murder, tired of robbery, tired of lying, tired of being stupid, tired of hunger, tired of sickness, tired of dirt, tired of chaos. Was ever anyone fresh and bright-eyed about all this? If so, war fatigue would truly be a state that doesn’t deserve saving. People should be tired of war all the time, that is, not after but before they start the war..."
