When I was ten years old, I was diagnosed with type one diabetes. Not only was my life turned upside down, but the lives of my siblings, parents, aunts, uncles, and so many others were also impacted. Thankfully, I found community with the people who would eventually start the DFC and my pail didn't feel as heavy when I stopped having to carry it alone. Now I volunteer with the DFC and love every minute of it! Building community is something they do really, really well and I am so lucky to have even a small part in it.
