In 2026, our nation celebrates an extraordinary milestone, 250 years of American freedom.

From Lexington and Concord to the mountains of Afghanistan, generations of Americans have answered the call to defend that freedom. Every generation has carried the burden of service so that the next could live free.

As we commemorate America's Semiquincentennial, we must also remember another milestone approaching on the horizon:

25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001.

For the men and women who served at Karshi-Khanabad Air Base (K2) in Uzbekistan, the war did not end when they came home.

They deployed in the earliest days of Operation Enduring Freedom, launching America's response to terrorism. Many served in harsh conditions and were exposed to toxic hazards that would follow them long after their deployments ended. Years later, countless K2 veterans continue to battle serious illnesses linked to their service.

Their fight for recognition, healthcare, and earned benefits became a second deployment; one fought in doctors' offices, VA claims systems, congressional hearings, and hospital rooms.

Stronghold Freedom Foundation was founded to ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten.

Today, we advocate for K2 veterans and their families through education, outreach, policy reform, and direct support. We work to preserve their stories, strengthen their community, and ensure that future generations understand the price that was paid in defense of freedom.
