Let us come together as a community and reflect on all we accomplished this past year, and celebrate the people who make this work possible. It is an evening to reconnect with familiar faces, welcome new supporters, and share the stories and progress that continue to shape the future of the Baird Creek Watershed.

We are pleased to welcome our guest speaker, Crystal Brown of Inspired North, an ethnobotanical educator, herbalist, and long-time leader of our Foraging Hikes. Crystal will present: "Wildcrafting Community: Participating in Reciprocal Relationships with the Land and Each Other Through Wild Food and Medicine".

Crystal Brown, of Inspired North, is an ethnobotanical educator, bio-regional herbalist, and writer/creative, focusing on wild edible food and medicinal plants, and fungi. Crystal has been leading wild food hikes with the Baird Creek Preservation Foundation since Fall 2022. She assists students in developing a connection to nature, self, and community through creative outdoor experiences that incorporate an integrative approach to health, wellness, and personal growth. She has a background working as a psychiatric mental health nurse with children, adolescents, and adults. Crystal teaches wild food and herbal medicine classes and workshops in Wisconsin, for the public, private, and non-profit groups and schools, as well as programming to experiential educators throughout the Midwest working with youth and adults, including connecting nature/adventure experiences with mental health and trauma-informed education. Crystal has been actively involved in the Seymour Park Food Forest initiative in Green Bay, Wisconsin, guiding community members on how to care for wild food and medicine gardens, and grow community through the “Grassroots in the Garden” program with NEW Leaf Foods. Crystal is also the Executive Director of Clean Water Action Council of Northeast Wisconsin, a non-profit, environmental advocacy organization whose mission is to promote safe, healthy, and sustainable environments in Northeast Wisconsin, promoting education and environmental justice.

The Baird Creek Greenway is a significant and unique natural resource located within the City of Green Bay. The Greenway’s nearly 500+ acres of biologically diverse scenic valley stretch three and a half miles following the creek as it flows west over the Niagara Escarpment into the East River.
