We’re here! We’re angry! Get used to it! “Angry Asian Feminists Unite!” is an art show, a zine and a call to action… for and by angry Asian feminists! 2021’s rise in anti-Asian racism until today’s rise in Islamophobia— how has this affected Asian women, femmes and gender expansive people? Angry Asian Womxn has spearheaded this project to showcase and unify our beautifully diverse community as we talk about this topic with art, writing, photography, a ton of practical advice, and hopefully healing. With this project, you will hear from Angry Asian feminists from diverse backgrounds and genders talking about being survivors of systemic oppression that unite us all. Our art opening and zine launch coincides with the week of Inauguration Day, a perfect time for us to come together as a community and a perfect time for mutual aid and community care. Come get free food (to go), snacks, tea packets, self defense tools, subway safety guides, N-95s, self care items and more at the event! We will have a craft table (lots of crafts can be taken home too!) and practice pepper spray station from 5-7pm. Dr. Emily Siy @emilygraceacupuncture will be giving out free ear seeds from 5-7pm Our reading from the zine and acupressure workshop from Emily will start at 7pm. **VIRTUAL OPTION will be 7pm-8pm** *** To be as inclusive as possible, this event is mandatory masking for the entire event and a negative COVID-19 test is required before entering. We will provide both for free. If you need to be tested before, please try and arrive at least 15 minutes earlier to account for testing time. Please wear N-95/KN-95 quality mask or higher (surgical or cloth masks are not acceptable). Event venue is on the ground floor with ADA compliant bathroom. Event space has HVAC and air purifiers. All food given out will be vegan and halal.
