Thirteen years ago, Grit, Glam, & Guts (GGG) was nothing more than a dream—a vision born from a deep love for community and an unwavering belief in the potential of Black girls. It started humbly, with a single teen conference in Lansing, Michigan, organized by a handful of passionate individuals who believed in creating a space where girls could feel seen, heard, and empowered.

It was built from the ground up—brick by brick, moment by moment—through blood, sweat, and tears. Those who poured their hearts into GGG were more than just organizers; they were dreamers, fighters, and lovers of community. They understood the challenges that girls of color, Black girls face—systemic inequities, lack of representation, and limited opportunities—and they were determined to provide something different: a program that celebrated their brilliance, nurtured their leadership, and equipped them with the tools to thrive.

Over the years, GGG grew from that single conference into a multifaceted organization that has touched thousands of lives. Weekly chapter meetings, residential summer camps, and teen conferences became cornerstones of the program, each designed to foster self-awareness, cultural pride, and leadership. Partnerships with schools, community leaders, and organizations like Michigan State University strengthened GGG’s reach, while the dedication of facilitators, coordinators, and volunteers kept the mission alive.

Today, GGG stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment, positioned for this time. The world is changing, and the need for programs like GGG has never been greater. Black girls need spaces where they can grow, lead, and thrive—spaces where their voices are amplified and their dreams are nurtured.

As we look to the future, GGG is ready to move forward stronger and bolder than ever. We are committed to expanding our reach, deepening our impact, and continuing the legacy of empowerment that began over a decade ago. But we can’t do it alone.
