Shore to Shore is forming a generation of young leaders who will build bridges in a divided world.

This two-year program combines leadership training, spiritual formation, experiential learning, and an international exchange between teenagers in Massachusetts and young leaders in South Africa. Through retreats, dialogue, and shared exploration of history and culture, participants discover how faith, courage, and friendship can transform communities.

Your gift invests directly in these young leaders—opening doors to experiences that will shape their lives and empower them to change the world.

What Makes Shore to Shore Different

Shore to Shore is not simply a trip or a service project. It is a two-year journey of leadership formation, cultural exchange, and spiritual discovery that invites teenagers to grow into courageous leaders.

Participants experience:

Monthly Leadership Gatherings
Young people meet throughout the year for leadership development, dialogue, and spiritual reflection.

Retreats and Experiential Learning
Through retreats and shared experiences, students explore faith, justice, reconciliation, and global citizenship.

International Exchange
Massachusetts youth travel to South Africa in partnership with the Volmoed Youth Leadership Program. South African youth will later travel to Massachusetts, continuing the exchange and deepening friendships.

Together they will explore the legacy of leaders like Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, learning how reconciliation and courage can shape the future.

Why This Matters

Young people today are growing up in a world marked by polarization, isolation, and division.

Shore to Shore offers something radically hopeful.

By building friendships across continents, cultures, and histories, teenagers learn how empathy, courage, and faith can transform communities.

These young people will return home not only with memories, but with the skills and confidence to lead.
