Founder Dr. Gena Yuvette Davis, caught up in the demands of running a business, managing a team, networking, developing client relationships, volunteering, and family obligations, would often put her own health and happiness on the back burner. Tired, fatigued, and experiencing many of the symptoms of menopause, she knew it was essential for her to prioritize her physical, mental, and emotional health consistently.

She launched My Serenity Sanctuary on March 1, 2022, as the community sponsor for the Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s first Self-Care Summit: Seven Days of DeltaCare on Facebook Live. Dr. Gena was the chapter’s chair of the Physical and Mental Health committee. She and her committee created programs that supported members and introduced the community to unique self-care and wellness activities, including meditation, soundbaths, yoga, healthy eating, and nature walks. The programs were so successful that My Serenity Sanctuary won its first Community Service Award.

It was this passion for self-care and emotional wellness education that My Serenity Sanctuary continues to grow into a dynamic self-care and wellness ecosystem and advocate for Black women and girls everywhere.

My Serenity Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) public charity organization. EIN # 92-2565890.
