This year the Fiji house is raising money to support the work of Construction for Change. A global non-profit based out of Seattle and originally started by 2 Fiji brothers from the UW in 2008. Construction for Change builds social infrastructure around the world such as hospitals, schools, and centers for economic development. CfC has helped build 131 projects over the last 17 years in 23 different countries.

We as a house are partnering with CfC to fund the building of the Kizimani Vocational School and Macecall Kitchen in Kenya, the 2 building projects that CfC is taking on in Kenya to help Kizimani have the space and resources for education and feeding programs. The vocational school will focus on job and skill training in an effort to help lower the high unemployment rate in Kenya of college aged young adults. In rural areas outside of the big cities, work is hard to come by right now, and Kizimani has a vision for their own community to flourish, by providing job training to help alleviate the extreme poverty that exists in the region.

In addition to the school, the local Macecall Kitchen that is used for their primary school feeding program needs to be rebuilt. Serving 100 kids daily, the increase of demand has lead to their former kitchen no longer being suitable.

Our goal as a house is to raise $85,000 to help this dream of a vocational school and kitchen become a reality and change the future for 200 young adults a year, and provide an opportunity for hope.
