CASA of Douglas County’s Annual PJ & Pillowcase Drive

This holiday season, our community has the power to ensure that every child in foster care feels the warmth, comfort, and joy they deserve. CASA of Douglas County’s Annual PJ & Pillowcase Drive brings together local families, friends, and supporters to provide something extraordinary—new pajamas and handmade pillowcases for children in care. These simple gifts are more than just cozy essentials—they represent the love and care of an entire community.

For many children in foster care, receiving a brand-new pair of pajamas is a meaningful experience. It gives them something that belongs entirely to them, offering a sense of comfort and dignity. And in homes where there are mixes of children in care and children from that family, our drive makes sure that every child receives pajamas, ensuring no one feels left out or different.

This event is about more than just gifts—it’s about building a sense of belonging during the holiday season. With the help of local sewing groups and the generous contributions of donors and volunteers, we provide warm, handmade pillowcases and soft pajamas to children of all ages. We also extend this care to teens in juvenile housing and detention centers, offering packages filled with cozy blankets, socks, games, and other items that help brighten their stay during a difficult time.

How It Works:

Pillowcases: Fabric is donated and sent to local sewing groups, who create beautiful, hand-sewn pillowcases. These pillowcases are returned by the end of November, ready to be delivered in time for the holidays.
Pajamas & Teen Facility Coordination: CASA volunteers ensure children in care receive warm pajamas, while teens in juvenile housing and detention centers receive special care packages filled with blankets, socks, DVDs, board games, and more.

Join us in spreading love, warmth, and joy this holiday season. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a lasting impact on the lives of children and teens in our community. Together, we can help make this a Christmas to remember for every child. Many essentials we provide are covered by a generous community grant. However, there are some items needed to make this possible and some of the gifts for teens in different facilities do not fall within what is allowed in the grant. Our goal is to raise $500 for purchasing individual and "house" gifts for these teens. Any funds raised beyond our goal will go directly towards supporting our mission of providing Court Appointed Special Advocate for every Douglas County child in care.
