Before there was The Second Act Project, there was a man searching for his own second chance.

My name is Wigasi Brant. I battled addiction for years — in and out of jail, in and out of hope… stuck in a revolving door that seemed impossible to escape. I know the weight of that stigma. I know what it’s like to be written out of the story… and how much worse it feels (and is) when you’re the one holding the pen.

....But I also know what it feels like when someone hands you a script, looks you in the eye, and tells you, “You belong here.”

I learned what theatre could do: how it builds discipline, demands honesty, and helps you remember who you are — and who you still have time to become.

Enter The Second Act Project (TSAP)

TSAP introduces formerly incarcerated individuals, recovering addicts, and opportunity youth to the healing power of performance. Through acting classes, peer-led workshops, recovery-centered meetings, and original productions, we help people reclaim their stories — and their futures.

We’ve actually been doing this work since 2011 — in borrowed spaces, on borrowed time. Now, we’re ready to raise the curtain on something permanent. Something ours.

The Curtain Riser Campaign will help us open our first dedicated space — a home for transformation, creativity, and community. A place where second chances won’t be whispered about. They’ll be staged, celebrated, and shared out loud with the world.
