Up for grabs in this year’s 5 Bucks a Foot Gravel Fundraiser is the Chamois Hagar, built with a Shimano GRX 12-speed mechanical drivetrain and GRX brakes, White Industries cranks, bottom bracket and hubs—built around carbon Astral Luna rims—Paul Component Boxcar stem, Fox Kashima-coated Transfer dropper post, carbon WTB saddle, 50mm WTB Resolute tires and finished with a full set of Loam Equipment bags and Camp and Go Slow Eastern Rattler bar tape. The grand prize also includes a Patagonia Provisions Taste of Provisions box set, and a Patagonia Dirt Roamer riding kit, including men's or women's shorts, long-sleeved jersey and socks.

Designed with Evil’s deep mountain bike DNA, the Chamois Hagar ups the shredability of a traditional gravel bike, with a long front-center, stretched-out reach and slack headtube, SEVEN bottle cages and gear mounts so you can carry gear for multiple days of travel, and the ability to accommodate up to 50mm tires. Atop this bike, you can happily explore some 800 miles of backcountry gravel, dirt and pavement that link up campgrounds and communities throughout the Lost Sierra, including the quintessential 250-mile Lost Sierra Loop, a comprehensive multi-day route from Truckee scouted and tested by SBTS board member Matt McCourtney. This route passes through Portola, Lake Davis and the Lightning Tree Campground—as seen in the images above—with the option to explore 7 miles of the Lake Davis Trail singletrack, built by SBTS and parts of which are included in this year’s Lost and Found Gravel Festival courses.

On the northern end of SBTS Connected Communities footprint, the 137-mile Sagebrush to Snowbanks route takes in the best of northern Plumas and southern Lassen counties, starting and ending in Greenville and traveling through the beautiful Indian Valley. For something more rugged to really test the boundaries of the Chamois Hagar, the 165-mile Lost Sierra High Line route is a shortened version of the full Lost Sierra Loop that passes through the Sierra Valley—California’s largest alpine valley—as well as several historic mining towns, a hot springs, two backwoods breweries and a ghost town. WHAT YOUR DONATION SUPPORTS

Donate at least $5 between now and June 30 to get a chance to win this one-off adventure bike, and your donation will directly support the work of the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship to strengthen mountain communities, using trails as the tool. Specifically, dollars raised from this campaign will help us move forward on several trail projects that are part of Connected Communities—a community-driven long-term vision to connect 15 mountain towns via multi-use singletrack. While the existing 800 miles of doubletrack roads allow for exploration now, Connected Communities aims to complete 527 miles of singletrack route to further establish thriving, recreation-based economies in the rural mountain towns of the Lost Sierra. It also includes new trail development and construction guidelines focused on fuels reduction and forest restoration through Fire Hardened Trails, plans for new trailhead infrastructure and recreation zones that identify future trail projects in select communities.

Trail projects these dollars will support in 2026 include finishing the long-awaited final quarter-mile of Beckwourth Peak project in Portola—a 13.5-mile non-motorized lollipop trail that starts at Portola City Park—completing the Verdi Ridge trail in the East Zone Connectivity Project to eventually connect Truckee all the way up to Reno via singletrack, as well as laying the groundwork for the Cottonwood Connectivity Project in the Sierra Valley.

HOW IT WORKS

The 5 Bucks a Foot Gravel fundraising campaign runs between Wednesday, June 10 and Tuesday, June 30, and for every foot of trail purchased at $5 per foot (the average cost of building a trail), participants get a chance to win. The more feet of trail you buy, the better your chances of winning. The winner will be drawn using a random number generator, and announced via email and social media. This campaign is open to U.S. and international entries. The winner will be able to select the frame size of their choice: small through XL.

The "5 Bucks a Foot Lakes Basin" fundraiser is open to contestants worldwide. By participating in the "5 Bucks a Foot Lakes Basin" fundraiser, you consent to SBTS sending you additional information and updates related to this donation drawing and other SBTS news. The winner must be 18 years or older and reside in a locality where participation is legal. No purchase is necessary to enter. To enter without purchase, you may mail a handwritten postcard (form) to SBTS at: SBTS, 550 Crescent Street, Quincy, CA 95971. Containing your (i) full name; (2) mailing address, including street address, city, state/district, and zip code (P.O. boxes not accepted); (3) telephone number; (4) email address; and (5) date of birth.
