In 2019, the world as I knew it shattered. When my son, William, passed away, I thought I had lost everything. Grief swept over me like a storm, and I couldn’t see beyond the darkness. I remember feeling as though I was drifting on a sea of despair, not knowing how to stay afloat, how to breathe, or how to live without him. I thought that my whole world was ending.

But life, in its quiet and sometimes mysterious way, continued. And through the unwavering support and love from my wife, Susie, my friends, and the community around me, I slowly began to heal. I won’t pretend it was easy. It was hard work—grieving, processing, learning to live with the pain. But with time, I found solid ground again. I found a way to keep going, to honor William’s memory and live the life he would have wanted me to live.

And that’s where this journey has led me.

Now, as I approach my 50th birthday, I want to give that same sense of hope, healing, and peace back to other families who are walking the painful road of grief. That’s why Susie and I are racing to raise the funds to create The Green House—a retreat vacation home specifically designed for grieving families. This place will be a sanctuary, a safe haven where families can find solace in each other’s company, rest, and begin to heal in their own time and their own way.

The idea behind The Green House is simple: to offer a peaceful retreat where families can come together, away from the pressures of everyday life, and find the space they need to grieve, heal, and reconnect. It will be a place of comfort, peace, and understanding, built in honor of the incredible love we shared with our son, William.

I can’t think of a better way to honor his legacy than by helping others navigate their own grief in a way that offers them peace, hope, and healing. It would mean so much to me, to Susie, and to our family if you would consider supporting this important endeavor.
