Since 2017, Providence (PVD) Promise has empowered local students and families to plan for life after high school through early college savings, financial literacy, and meaningful family engagement. To date, 1,575+ students from 800+ families have saved more than $2.85 million in 529 College Savings Accounts — most from households earning less than $60,000 per year.

Today, we’re calling on you to help us raise $25,290 to support critical, new initiatives for middle and high school students, including:

🎓 Every Saver, a new program scaling our low-cost, high impact services, like support opening a parent-held 529 and access to virtual services and CSA support!

🎉 The second High School Graduation Send-Off Party to celebrate the largest graduating high school class yet of 70 students - the majority of last year's class graduated on-time and is currently in a postsecondary program... more to come soon on this new class of graduates, but we expect it to be promising!

💼 The Third Annual Career Summit with inspiring professionals from upwardly mobile industries

These programs provide students with the knowledge, confidence, and connections they need to pursue higher education and fulfilling careers.

About Us:

PVD Promise uses an innovative and comprehensive approach to offer a cohesive means of support to participants. In short, PVD Promise...

Partners with families to help them open 529 CSAs for each child in the household and provides $100 in seed funding to each new account. Parents agree to make monthly contributions within their means to CSAs - about 1% of annual income.
Offers an expansive incentive program in which enrolled students and their parents/guardians can earn up to $250 per month towards their CSAs.
Provides community-responsive, multi-disciplinary, and bilingual Family and Youth Engagement programming at no cost to families. Programming supplements the financial foundation families are building by focusing on topics such as financial literacy, academic enrichment, college and career readiness, health and wellness, arts and culture, and more.

PVD Promise is creating a college-going culture within students, their families, and the broader community. In FYE 25, PVD Promise facilitated 100+ workshops, events and meetings for 3,048 cumulative participants (one-third of which was with community partners) - not including hundreds of Youth Mentorship and advising one-on-ones - and provided $168,000 in incentive awards directly to students CSAs. In the future, PVD Promise hopes to bring its highly scalable model to communities across Rhode Island who can benefit.
