Over 25 years ago, the late Leslie Daniels co-led the building of Playscape, a wooden play structure located near downtown Big Rapids in Hemlock Park. The structure was a community hub, point of pride, and enjoyed by thousands of children. Playscape was painted and maintained by Bulldog hockey players and fellow student athletes until it's demolition in July of 2024.

In August of 2024, an inclusive state of the art playground was erected in the exact location. To remember the late Leslie Daniels and to honor Coach Daniels' enormous impact on our community and the game of hockey, a group of alumni and community members are rallying together to raise $20,000k to name the new playground in their honor. Funds collected will be used for general maintenance. In addition, money collected will go to a sign or plaque that honors Coach Daniels or his 30 plus years behind the Bulldog bench and his families' contributions to our University and community.
