Story of that russian flag

As promised in the comments, here’s the story behind this flag:

It was taken in the early days of the Kursk campaign. The Russians were caught by surprise and began falling back—well, more precisely, they were fleeing from the advancing AFU forces.

Soldiers of the 95th Airborne Brigade were among the spearhead of the AFU troops that pushed into Russian territory. After Sudzha had fallen, several assault formations advanced deeper into Russian soil, trying to gain as much ground as possible. They even managed to break through Russian defenses at several points, wreaking havoc in the hinterland.

By chance, they came across a small command post belonging to a Russian artillery unit and didn't hesitate to attack immediately. The post and its personnel were swiftly overrun, with all enemy combatants taken out of action one way or another.

Due to an ammunition shortage and a few wounded, the Ukrainians eventually had to pull back—but they took anything valuable with them, primarily Russian data devices. One soldier also grabbed this flag, which had been hanging on a wall inside the command post.

Upon returning to their lines, the unit had suffered only one casualty. I’m not sure if “Brown” lost his life during the attack on the command post or in another engagement that day, but the soldiers dedicated that day’s victory to him.

They had a hard time parting with this flag, but in order to help us raise more funds for the brigade, they handed it over to us.

The 95th received several large powerbanks from us. For sure, this won´t be the last time they will be receiving support from UFL.
