I have a very special connection to Bob Hall having also contracted paralytic polio as a child. Although we never met in person, I was blessed to connect with him via email when he was celebrating the 50th anniversary of his pioneering Boston Marathon wheelchair win. I was able to express my heartfelt gratitude to him for paving the way for athletes of different abilities to be able to experience road racing. I was diagnosed with Post-Polio Syndrome, told to prepare to spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair and expect an accelerated decline in functioning as I aged. But I was drawn to the sport of running and able to set the goal of running the 2009 Boston Marathon thanks to Bob Hall. It was a life changing experience!
Please support my fundraising page and the life changing work of REquipment Durable Medical Equipment and programs that empower individuals with disabilities to live with dignity, independence, and self-determination. Let us honor Bob Hall's incredible legacy that goes beyond the finish line!
Thank you! See you at the starting line!
