Between 2014 and 2020, there were 155 teen deaths from suicide in Pinellas County, Florida. This is not discussed at any societal, academic, or governmental level and we can’t allow it to continue. Operation: Jack’s Village is committed to preventing teen suicide; our mission is to empower youth and adolescents to find meaningful purpose in their lives through developing relationships that help them Survive, Thrive and Soar.

As parents and loving family members, we must look for more than the “standard warning signs”, rather than quietly say, “That’s not my child”. It is important to manage expectations about the world today. The systems in place are overwhelmed, people are out of their own level of expertise, and trapped in a reactive frame of mind.

Youth and adolescents must have input on policies, practices, and decisions that affect them. We are empowering them to speak up, as well as educating them about their needs, partnering with parents, educators, local businesses, government, and other organizations.
