Breanna Omosebi's Story

Hi, my name is Breanna Omosebi, and from the very beginning, medicine has impacted my life in major ways.

Living with sickle cell disease has affected how I care for myself, how I approach my education, and how I see the world around me. Being diagnosed with a genetic condition has not been easy, but it has given me a deeper understanding of the kind of life I want to build and the kind of difference I want to make.

Over the years, I have learned that medicine is more than helping people — it is working with them. It is listening, understanding, and treating patients as whole people, not just as diagnoses.

Being hospitalized many times has taught me perseverance. It has shown me what strength looks like in difficult moments. It has also reminded me that I never fought alone. My mother has been one of my greatest inspirations, teaching me that education is something no one can ever take away from me. Her encouragement has helped me keep going, even when sickle cell became one of my biggest battles.

🩺 Using My Voice to Help Others

Throughout my journey with sickle cell disease, I have met many doctors and healthcare professionals. Some have helped me feel seen and cared for. But I have also learned that patients’ voices can sometimes be overlooked or drowned out during overwhelming medical conversations.

Those experiences shaped my dream.

I want to earn my bachelor’s degree in nursing and continue toward a career as a pediatric nurse practitioner. My goal is to be a helping hand for children whose voices may feel small in medical spaces. I want to connect compassion, sympathy, love, and clinical care so young patients feel heard, respected, and supported.

Long term, I hope to use my education and personal experiences to serve low-income communities both locally and globally. I believe lives can be saved and improved through access to basic care, annual physicals, over-the-counter medications, health education, and something as simple but powerful as a listening ear.

🎓 What This Scholarship Means to Me

Receiving the Warrior on the Rise Scholarship means so much because it supports students like me who are constantly fighting for the right to receive an education while managing the realities of sickle cell disease.

This scholarship helps me continue on my pathway toward becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner. It is a reminder that my journey, my voice, and my dreams matter.

I remain persistent, and I will keep working hard until I reach my career goals. Sickle cell disease may be part of my story, but it has also given me purpose — and I plan to use that purpose to care for others.

🌟 Help More Warrior Scholars Rise

When you support the Warrior on the Rise Scholarship Fund, you are investing in students like me — scholars impacted by sickle cell disease who are pursuing education, building careers, and turning personal challenges into service.

Your donation helps provide encouragement, financial support, and hope to young people who are determined to rise, lead, and give back.

Thank you for believing in me and in the future of Warrior Scholars everywhere.
