60 for 60: Building the Next Freedom School

This August, I will celebrate my 60th birthday.

As I reflect on six decades of life, faith, education, service, and community, I find myself thinking less about milestones and more about legacy.

For much of my life, I have served as an educator, pastor, scholar, advocate, and mentor. I have had the privilege of teaching students, leading congregations, supporting families, and working alongside communities committed to justice and transformation.

Rather than receiving gifts for myself this year, I am inviting 60 people to give $60 in support of the Pressley Family Institute Freedom School.

The Pressley Family Institute serves as the outreach and educational arm of Faith at Work Christian Church. Through educational programming rooted in the historic Freedom School tradition, we work to strengthen literacy, cultural knowledge, leadership development, civic engagement, and community empowerment.

Our vision is simple: to help young people understand who they are, whose they are, and the rich legacy they inherit.

Your support will help us continue developing curriculum, purchasing educational resources, expanding family engagement efforts, and building the infrastructure needed to grow our Freedom School model for future generations.

Our goal is to raise $3,600 through 60 gifts of $60.
