The JM Murray Foundation was created for the sole purpose of ensuring your donation will be used for our mission. All monies received will be deposited into the JM Murray Foundation for the express purposes of our mission. Your charitable donation to JM Murray helps us to bridge the gaps in programming and further enrich the lives of individuals we serve.

Business overview

JM Murray is a unique organization with two interconnected divisions:

Services Division: Provides compassionate support to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
Business Division: Offers business-to-business solutions to public and private organizations globally.

Together, these divisions create meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities in community-based work environments. Our approach not only teaches valuable skills but also fosters confidence and enriches lives.

Market opportunity

Since 1966, JM Murray has been the leading provider of services, employment and vocational training for individuals with disabilities in Central New York. The organization was founded by John Murray, and a group of local businessmen, with the realization that individuals with disabilities had few, if any, opportunities for paid work. Until now, JM Murray has been able to separate itself from other not-for-profit agencies, like us, because of our ability to sustain our agency without any substantial fundraising campaigns. However, now in our 60th year, we’re hoping to enhance the lives of our consumers even more, and we need your help to do it! In 2021, the JM Murray Foundation, a 501c3 organization, was established and seeded by a former JM Murray Board Chair. Since its inception, the foundation has primarily grown through unsolicited donations. The intent of the foundation is to enhance the experience of our consumers both within JM Murray, and in our community. While JM Murray is supported by a fee for service model and the revenue generated from our business division, we do have needs outside of our current ability to finance. Such enhancements for our consumers could be, but are not limited to:

- Music, dance, art or horseback riding therapy.

- Funding summer camps.

- Assistance to first-time employees in the form of clothing, food, work supplies and transportation costs (including gas allowances) until payday.

- Assistance to individuals living independently for the first time with cost incurred (including furnishings, bedding, linens, etc.).

Our goal is to achieve a total foundation balance of at least $3 million so that we can allocate at least 4-5% a year to enhancing the lives of our consumers in the ways mentioned above.

Will you help us achieve our goal? We’re asking for any donation amount you deem significant, and within your capabilities.

Donations/Sponsorship opportunities

We accept one-time sum donations, or you can set up a reoccurring donation. We also have a couple of different company events each year, that can be sponsored, and all proceeds from that sponsorship go directly into the foundation for improving our consumers’ lives. JM Murray also helps funds community establishments that serve individuals with disabilities, for example: we paid for and donated two TrackChairs to the Lime Hollow Nature Center, which is the only nature center in all of NY State to offer two year-round! The TrackChair is a battery-powered, all terrain “wheelchair” designed to make trails accessible for people with mobility challenges. *Please note: any money you donate or give towards sponsoring an event will NEVER be used for operational expenses, staff salaries/benefits or otherwise, or any other company expenditure.
