Kirsten Johl Levitt has been cooking since she could stand on a chair next to her mother in the family kitchen. It all started with Christmas cookies and fruit cakes and has expanded her culinary repertoire for the past 5 decades.

Born and raised in New York City, Kirsten was exposed to authentic ethnic foods from around the world. She is a self-taught chef who has been cooking and catering for large parties for the past 35 + years. She loves to feed and serve delicious and nutritious meals that expand your palate with world cuisines and their associated celebrations.

When she is not at the Stone Soup Café Kirsten is the second-grade teacher for the Gill Montague Regional School District. Kirsten is dedicated to ensuring that all children learn to read and write. You may notice her love of words in our weekly menu’s poetry.

Kirsten’s other passions include: singing, gardening, dancing, and spending time with her beloved family and friends.

Kirsten offers a little ray of hope to the lives of so many people due to her big heart and her clear, determined vision to make the world a better place right here in Greenfield.

About The Oakland Stroke Band

The Oakland Stroke band is a fantastic 10-13 piece horn band that plays 1970’s dance/funk/ San Francisco Bay Area-style music. Fronted by two powerhouse female vocalists – guest singer Carol Devine and Pioneer Valley legend Donna-Lee Deprille, Oakland Stroke has played at Hawks & Reed several times and are well loved in the area for their driving dance energy and wonderful musicianship. Armed with multiple horns (trumpet, saxophone, trombone), keyboards, guitar, bass, congas and drums, the band’s repertoire includes artists such as: Tower of Power, Sly & The Family Stone, Santana, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Buddy Miles & more. We’re excited about having this wonderful band at our event - it will definitely be a party to remember!

About Stone Soup Café

The Stone Soup Café is a pay-what-you-can gourmet hot luncheon served by volunteers every Saturday afternoon. The Café is run by a board of directors and volunteers with a small number of paid staff.
