UPDATE August 2025

On 7/31/25 Simba underwent a procedure to take a look at his nose and identify what is going on, and we have some news we wanted to share!

Simba has a fungal infection, and they were able to scape (ow!) a lot of the fungus off during his procedure. The good news it that it is highly treatable, and he will start medicines that should clear the fungus from his system in about 8-9 months.

We still need your help to cover his past medical costs (though our goal is significantly reduced due to a very generous medical sponsor) and help ensure he stays out of the shelter and with his foster family (who adores him!)

Simba is just 3 years old, but he's already been through more than most dogs ever should.

After sitting sick and overlooked in the shelter and being given a 7/9/25 exit date, he’s finally safe in a loving medical foster home, but he’s still not well. Despite multiple vet visits, tests, and medications, Simba continues to battle constant nasal discharge and persistent coughing. Every test has come back inconclusive. He’s trying so hard to feel better, but we still don’t have answers.

Now, he’s scheduled for a CT scan and rhinoscopy: advanced diagnostics that we hope will finally tell us what’s going on, and how to help him heal.

Thanks to a generous donor, we’re part of the way there. But the cost of Simba’s care, what we've already paid and what’s still ahead, is more than we can shoulder alone.
