Two years ago, we opened the doors of the 6888 Kitchen Incubator inside the historic Dayton Arcade with a simple but powerful belief: when you give under-resourced food entrepreneurs the right tools, space, and community, they build extraordinary things.

We were right.

Since opening in February 2024, the 6888 Kitchen has supported dozens of food businesses, generated hundreds of thousands of dollars in member revenue, and helped create jobs right here in the Gem City. Entrepreneurs like Martina Scott of Boss Potatoes — who turned a pandemic layoff into a thriving business — and Briana Parks of Side Piece Soul Café — who rebuilt her life and her livelihood after losing everything — found their footing, their community, and their next chapter inside these walls.

Now we're building the next chapter for all of us.

On April 28th, we are breaking ground on Phase II — an expansion that will add 2 private kitchen pods, a dedicated community and catering kitchen, a retail storefront where members can sell directly to the public, and additional storage. These additions will significantly expand how many entrepreneurs we can serve and deepen the economic impact of this kitchen on Dayton's food economy.

This RSVP page is your official registration for the groundbreaking celebration. The event is free and will feature complimentary hors d'oeuvres prepared by our member entrepreneurs, beer, wine, music, and a short program honoring two years of impact — capped off with the ceremonial groundbreaking.

We are named in honor of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, commanded by Dayton's own Lt. Col. Charity Adams Earley — the first African American woman to lead an overseas U.S. military battalion. Their motto was "No mail, low morale." They got it done. Every time.

We carry that same spirit into everything we build.
