Please note: tickets are required to attend this event.
Join us for our first ever virtual fundraiser! Purchase "e-tickets" that directly support Peconic Community School and join us for a livestream event on August 9th from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm EST for an evening of musical performances, fun activities for the whole family and a live lantern lighting.
PCS’s Annual Summer Fundraiser will be *virtual * for the first time this year! Please join us in honoring, celebrating and supporting the resilience and vibrancy of our community as we shine forward into a new year of innovative, compassionate learning.
Each ticket and donation includes access to an evening of virtual performances, presentations and PCS introductions, as well as a one-of-a-kind, hand painted lantern designed by a PCS student to light during the culminating Virtual Lantern Festival at dusk.
We hope you will join us in lighting up the night to honor our returning students, thank our generous supporters and welcome the many new families joining us in the fall.
Well, this is a bright light indeed — Mr. Joe Mc Kay, long-time PCS friend, advisor, supporter and SHARE 2018 honoree, has pledged *** $6,500 in matching funds *** to this year’s SHARE pledge drive!
That’s right, if we are able to raise an additional $6,500 toward learner-centered, community-minded education at Peconic Community School, Mr. Mc Kay will MATCH THOSE CONTRIBUTIONS, bringing us $13,000 closer to our $100,000 fundraising goal!
If you are able to give today, your gift — whether ticket price, sponsorship or donation — will be DOUBLED by Joe’s matching pledge to bring us that much closer to our goal.
Joe Mc Kay is a community leader, teacher, writer, speaker and advocate for life-long education and the environment whose values and dedication to the East End continue to inspire PCS’s work and approach. We are so grateful not only for his continued support, but for his inspiration and influence. Thank you, Joe, for yet again helping us reach our goals.
About Peconic Community School:
Peconic Community School was founded in 2012 with a clear understanding that modern schools need to educate children for an uncertain future, one whose lifestyles and career opportunities are difficult to predict.
And so, it is with the goal of fostering resilience, reflection, and compassion that PCS approaches educating children for the realities of the 21st century.
Children who are able to face challenges with determination and grace, who are able to pause and look within to find strength and clarity, and who are able to reach out with courage and understanding (that is, children who are resilient, reflective, and compassionate learners) are uniquely prepared to soar into the future.
The approaches used to implement curriculum at PCS (place-based education, project-based learning, and integrated study) foster these qualities of resilience, reflection, and compassion by engaging and inspiring the whole child.
We believe that children’s social emotional well-being is essential: for engaging the whole child, for achieving academic success, and for growing a thriving, productive community. In turn, a strong, healthy community bolsters the spirit and success of each of its members.
PCS commits to nourishing the emotional and social lives of its students with daily practices in mindfulness and intentional focus on shared Community Values. These approaches foster respect, encourage reflection, and promote active, compassionate citizenship.
