You're Invited to Battle Point Astronomical Association's fundraiser event, "Under One Sky"! Saturday Dec 20th, 2-5 pm at BARN (8890 Three Tree Lane NE, Bainbridge Island, WA). Drop by for astronomy activities, art, telescopes and more! All are welcome. Celebrate the Winter Solstice and help support community access to science and education.

In 2025, with your generous donations, Battle Point Astronomical Association successfully launched our STEAM education program to offer resources and field trips to K-12 schools! We also expanded our planetarium access, and hosted free Second Saturday Science Talks open to everyone, no matter age or income. Battle Point Observatory partners with community groups and other non-profits to host educational classes and events, exploring everything from science discussions to art exploration and children's theatre experiences.

BPAA constantly looks for opportunities to give back to the community, and we need your help to continue! Our year-end goal is to raise $100,000 to support the Observatory and programs, to offer events that expand community connection and access for all. By growing access to science and education, you strengthen the commitment to igniting passion for science and learning through the lens of astronomy! With your support, we can create opportunities for lifelong learning and unique experiences that combine the wonders of the night sky with technical and creative exploration. Help us offer community Star Parties, where someone who has never looked through a telescope before suddenly sees the universe open up before them.

About Us

The Battle Point Astronomical Association (BPAA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1992. Battle Point Observatory was constructed from the shell of the Helix Building, a World War II relic that in 1992 was scheduled for demolition and removal by the Bainbridge Island Parks Department. Thanks to the vision of the founders of the Battle Point Astronomical Association, that demolition never took place; instead, through private volunteer community efforts an Observatory was created which supports telescopes, the Rudolph Planetarium, the Ritchie Workshop, and an office and meeting space in the Gardiner Library.

In 2025, a team of dedicated volunteers installed a state-of-the-art, professionally manufactured 14" PlaneWave CDK telescope funded by the wonderful generosity of our donors! We offer regular planetarium shows, science talks, tours by request, and offer a Membership for you to join us and learn about news & activities happening at Battle Point Observatory.
