Jen Martin's Story

Cancer has crossed most of our paths either directly or indirectly. Some of us receive treatment and carry on. Others fight as hard and as long as they can only to lose the battle. We need a cure and that requires more research. I have been training for the 2023 Boston Marathon since December and am ready to take on Heartbreak Hill in a few weeks. It is my honor to be running this marathon in support of Shannon's Path as a member of its fundraising team. This local, family-run, non-profit organization was inspired by former beloved Southborough resident Shannon McDonald and seeks to fund rare cancer research and to support integrative cancer care for those impacted by diseases similar to hers. You can read more about Shannon and this worthy organization here: https://www.shannonspath.org. It is a great honor for me to become a part of this charity team and I hope you'll consider making a donation. Together we can make a difference in the countless lives of those affected by cancer and move us closer to a cure.

Story

Shannon's Path is a family-run 501(c)(3) organization based in Southborough, MA dedicated to funding rare cancer research and integrative cancer care for adults undergoing treatment. Founded in loving memory of Shannon H. McDonald, the organization works with leading research institutions and directly with patients and holistic providers to impact both the long and short-term needs in cancer care. During her cancer treatment, Shannon remained steadfast in her commitment to living each day to the fullest and remaining present to continue supporting her family and friends. This ethos and dedication to pursuing every integrative treatment option. in addition to regular chemotherapy, ultimately helped double her original life expectancy. It is for this reason that Shannon's husband and two sons are dedicated to carrying forward her approach to living with cancer.
