Story

Our 12th Annual Play-for-the-Cure game will be held on May 19th at 5:00pm! As Stonington & Waterford softball players and coaches we are proud of the work we do to raise money for childhood cancer awareness.

All money raised will be donated to the Lisa Wentz-Day Scholarship and Camp Rising Sun.

Twelve years ago, our teams first came together to support causes that honored two special people- Waterford’s Marissa Walker (then 9 years old!) and Stonington’s Lisa Wentz Day, who passed away in 1990.

The goal then- and the goal still today- is to teach our players that life is more than just a game! The game shows us all that when we come together as a community, we are stronger. When we look across this field and see our family, friends, and neighbors who have been impacted by cancer, we can pull together to offer love and support and let them know we are here for them as they battle this disease. And when the unthinkable happens – and we lose someone to cancer – we can do everything we can to keep their memory alive and support our families in real ways.

Please consider donating to this amazing tradition!
