Story
The only park within our small, rural community has been sitting, partially finished, and unusable for almost two decades. Our multi-use field is filled with vole holes and rattlesnakes. Our baseball fields are constantly full, causing teams to battle for practice time and our playground is aging and unsafe. This has made outdoor recreation limited unless you drive to Pueblo (we are located 30 miles South of Pueblo). Given that over 60% of the kids in our community are on free and reduced lunch, access to outdoor recreation is inaccessible to many.
As volunteer community members, we started this non-profit because we believe parks strengthen the fabric of communities and provide a critical space for both mental and physical health for all ages. especially children. To date, we have raised over $625,000, but still have a lot to accomplish in order to complete the planned projects.
That is why we would like you to consider donating to our current campaign. Your donation will help improve community vitality, equitable access and provide opportunities for youth connections. We are proposing the three phases of work listed below. In order to complete the projects, we are attempting to raise $800,000 which we will use toward a large $750,000 grant match. The large match will allow us to finish all three phases. If we don't get the match, we will be able to finish phase one and will keep working toward subsequent phases.
Thank you again for considering our campaign and helping our rural community meet our goals!
