My name is MamaJewel. I am a former child and family advocate within the family court system.

For safety reasons, I am going to be using family nick names for the privacy and protection of those involved in this story, especially that of a minor child.

This is a long and winding story of which I am sharing to help you understand more about why I am needing help to raise funds for my friend Tree Smoker and her family.

I have had my own personal experience with the corruption of family courts, CPS, etc and know all too well first hand how hard it is to jump through hoops.

I was unjustly kept from my dad growing up and then from my own children both for ten years plus. so when I met Tree Smoker and heard about her situation, my heart just about burst with anger, grief, frustration and heartache.

For ease of identification, here are some terms and nicknames to help identify key individuals in this situation:

Treesmoker- mama trying to bring her baby girl home (may be referred to as Tree or TreeSmoker)

LilTree- minor child stuck in situation of being in Foster Care due to the discrimination against those with mental health issues (may referred to LT or LilTree)

BigTree- TreeSmoker’s son who also lives with her and works to help pay for a big portion of household living expenses. (may be referred to as BT or BigTree)

Payee- Designated Payee assigned to handle TreeSmoker’s disability (Referred to as Payee)

Caseworker- Social Worker assigned to the case (referred to as CW or SW)

Lawyer- Public Defender assigned to TreeSmoker to help her with the court case

TreeSmoker has diagnosed mental health issues and has done everything she can to meet the requirements set forth by the family court. One big obstacle she has is that due to her mental health issues, she is unable to work. However, due to other circumstances beyond her control, she has been appointed a Designated Payee through the Social Security Administration. The Payee is not allowing Tree to buy things she needs to be able to meet the demands of cleanliness and organization as set forth by court.

One of the things that Tree wants to obtain is a portable washing machine to alleviate the burden of trying to transport her laundry on the bus to a laundromat. Tree also needs to be able to obtain containers for easily organizing things throughout her home.

With the limits put on her by the Payee and the requirements set forth by the courts, I decided to start this fundraiser in her behalf.
