Each Tuesday, we raffle off something cool and uniquely Ukrainian for the benefit of frontline defenders.

russia's monstrous July 8 attack on Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital has us going going off-mission this week. We're always looking out for Ukraine's future by supplying its defenders now, but this week we're looking out for its future by supporting those who look out for its children.

On offer this week is a Madonna and Child icon painted on an armor plate that was worn on the battlefield. A soldier gave it to legendary volunteer Yulia Tolmachova, who handed it to Zhytomyr-based artist Olena Bukata. Ms. Bukata uses acrylic paint to transform them into works of art, which she then sells or auctions to benefit the war effort.

Proceeds from this raffle will be evenly split. Half will be donated to Okhmatdyt's charitable foundation, Ohmatdyt - is Healthy Childhood. In partnership with Maxim Kilderov and Asaba -> la fabrique, the other half will be donated to United24's initiative to support Okhmatdyt's recovery.

As always, tickets are $2 and you may buy as many as you wish. Please note, however, that Givebutter limits individual purchases to batches no larger than 10.

Though the event description mentions a livestream, there will be none. And while we do deeply appreciate those of you who choose to donate as well as buying raffle tickets, we want to make it clear that donations are not required to enter the raffle.
