Data indicates that survivors of domestic violence face significant barriers to stability, often without access to the safe environments necessary for healing. At Discernment Journey Ministries Inc, we recognize that true independence requires more than just a place to stay (it requires a comprehensive foundation of life skills and emotional support). Currently, the demand for specialized safe spaces exceeds the available resources, leaving many survivors without the guidance they need to thrive.

Our Black Philanthropy Month - 828 Campaign

This August, we are partnering with Black Philanthropy Month by setting a goal of receiving 828 donations of $25.00 or more for 8/28 Give Day. Give 8/28 is more than a giving day. It is a national movement that recognizes the power of collective generosity and the critical role Black-led organizations play in helping communities thrive. By giving, sharing, and showing up, supporters provide the resources, visibility, and momentum needed to sustain and amplify their impact.

Givebutter Matching Gift

We are excited to announce that Givebutter will be matching 5% of August donations to Black-led non-profits.

Research shows that the first days are the most critical period for long-term success. Without structured intervention, survivors of domestic violence often struggle to secure employment or stable housing. We are expanding our capacity to ensure that no one has to navigate this transition alone. Our future facility requires immediate investment to maintain high standards of care and to expand our essential life skills workshops.

Increasing our safe space capacity to accommodate more survivors annually by converting a hotel into transistional housing.
Creating a curriculum for essential life skills, including financial literacy and professional development.
