The Mr. Bucks County Competition is a friendly contest where 12 gentlemen of Bucks County are selected each year to see who can raise the most money for a designated non-profit. The contestant who raises the most funds will be crowned Mr. Bucks County. This year, all donations will go to Main St., formerly known as Pine2Pink, benefitting local cancer patients.

Spearheaded by Gina-Maria Santoro, owner of Giovanni’s Fine Fashions, the competition has become both a fundraiser and a celebration of community spirit. With strong support from the small businesses of State Street in Newtown Borough, the event highlights how local entrepreneurs can unite for a greater cause.

In addition to the contest, the annual MBC Calendar provides a secondary fundraising stream. Each month is sponsored by a different business and brought to life through a comical photoshoot showcasing the sponsor’s goods or services. The images, captured by local photographer Joe Dantone of Dantone Creative, are compiled into the calendar, which is sold in local shops and on MrBucksCounty.com. One hundred percent of the profits go directly to the chosen non-profit.

In its first two years, the competition raised just over $165,000 in total with the help of volunteers, contestants, and sponsors. This year, the goal is set even higher, with hopes of reaching at least $125,000—though the sky is truly the limit.

At its heart, the Mr. Bucks County Competition reflects the true spirit of Newtown: neighbors, small businesses, and community leaders banding together to support those in need. Beyond raising funds, it builds connections, strengthens State Street, and reminds us what can be accomplished when a community works as one.
