April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and BLUE is the color of awareness, hope, and prevention. This month, we invite you to stand with us in our "Paint the Town Blue" campaign to show our community’s commitment to protecting children and fostering a future free from abuse.

Every ribbon, every pinwheel, every donation makes a difference. By participating, you are helping to spread awareness, support prevention efforts, provide continuity in advocacy services for the children of Floyd and Polk counties and bring hope to those who have experienced abuse.

What is Harbor House?

In 1991, the Floyd County Child Abuse Protocol Committee recommended the establishment of a coordinated system designed to respond to child abuse cases. The committee specifically recommended the establishment of a children’s center and the creation of a multidisciplinary child abuse investigation team. After detailed research and much effort, the Northwest Georgia Child Advocacy Center, known as “Harbor House,” was established in the fall of 1994. More than 7,200 children have been interviewed at Harbor House since it was established. Today, Harbor House provides family and child advocacy services to every client that we see, therapy services free of charge, and coordination of our community's multidisciplinary team's response to child abuse cases. Harbor House is an accredited member of the National Children's Alliance and The Children's Advocacy Center's of Georgia. Harbor House is also the umbrella organization for Floyd County CASA- Court Appointed Special Advocates. Floyd County CASA is an organization of professional staff and trained volunteers who advocate for the welfare of abused and neglected children in foster care.
