They Had Nowhere Else to Go—But Now, They Have a Safe Home!

On March 5, the Lake Superior Zoo answered the call to rescue nearly 200 animals after the closure of SeaQuest Roseville. These animals - including a capybara, a reticulated python, macaws, eclectus parrots, a golden conure, and 172 budgie - are now residing with us at the zoo. Without intervention, they had no certainty for their future.

Our dedicated animal care team stepped in, transporting these animals to safety in Duluth, where they are now receiving the expert care they deserve in our Willard Munger Animal Care Center.

We didn’t have much time to plan for this rescue—but we are so glad to give them a second chance.

Providing proper care, veterinary treatment, and habitat improvements for these animals comes at a significant cost. While we are honored to provide them a safe home, we need your help to ensure they receive:
