When Hurricane Helene flooded the Swannanoa River, we all made our way to the park. In those dark days of gathering and grieving, Grovemont Park became an absolute necessity: a place where our community could come together, support one another, and begin to heal.

We hope we never see destruction like Helene again. But that moment revealed what we've always known: the power of intentionally designed public space to draw neighbors out and bring us together. From its origins as a thoughtfully planned neighborhood gathering place, Grovemont Park has served as the heart of our community. Children play on the swings, neighbors walk the track each morning, dogs enjoy the crisp air, and we celebrate together at events like Groovin' on Grovemont in the summer and Winterfest in December.

The Swannanoa Community Council (SCC) manages Grovemont Park, Fox Creek Park, the community center building (home to the Swannanoa Library), and Historic Grovemont Square. We're an all-volunteer organization, and we depend on one another to maintain the park. Every dollar and every improvement comes from neighbors like you.
