GiveSolar and 23 Habitat for Humanity Affiliate Support Organizations (Habitat statewide offices) have partnered to make solar energy affordable to the low-income households households that they serve across the United States.

Why this matters:

Habitat for Humanity builds stronger, more vibrant communities by ensuring everyone has a safe, affordable place to call home.
Adding solar makes these homes even more affordable by lowering energy bills for decades.
This campaign will deliver the benefits of residential solar to low-income homeowners at a scale never before achieved.

Within this framework, GiveSolar and Habitat for Humanity Virginia developed a statewide solar deployment model that is now being replicated in many other states. The 1st phase of this fundraising effort (completed in Aug. 2024) resulted in $3.6M in solar start-up funds being directed to 11 Habitat for Humanity statewide offices.

Phase 2 is now underway!

We now seek to raise $40 million to deploy 10,000 solar systems on Habitat homes in all 50 states and Puerto Rico over the next five years!

But we can’t do this without visionary support from mission-aligned donors. What is the bold mission of this effort? To normalize the installation of solar systems on Habitat homes across the country over the next five years.
