For 15 years, CJ’s Thumbs Up Foundation has been a source of comfort and care for
families navigating the challenges of a child’s chronic or life-threatening illness. Thanks
to your generosity, we’ve been able to support thousands of families during their most
difficult days.

But, did you know that in 2025 we expanded our services to include the
neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU
(CHOR)?
One in seven babies born in the United States spends time in the NICU. For families,
this is an overwhelming experience. Alongside the fear and uncertainty, there’s
exhaustion, isolation, and the stress of daily life turned upside down. Parents often skip
meals or sleep just to stay close to their newborns. While their babies receive round-the-
clock medical care, there’s rarely someone looking out for them.

That’s where CJ’s Thumbs Up Foundation steps in.

In 2025 our staff and volunteers began serving healthy meals to caregivers in the
NICU at CHOR. We delivered cozy blankets, hugs and a listening ear. Small comforts
that remind families they are not alone – and that their well-being matters too.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to fund meals and support for our NICU families in 2026.

Thank you for showing NICU families that they are not alone – because of you, hope and
compassion show up when it’s needed most.
