Story

Kids 5-12 come to our PoP (Power of Produce) Club booth every Saturday during summer to choose about $4 worth of locally grown fruits and vegetables. PoP encourages kids to try new foods and make healthy food choices.

Kids (all ages) are encouraged to take the "2 Bite Challenge" -- they taste new things and tell us whether they like it, aren't sure or don't like it.

Additional activities, such as scavenger hunts, help kids get to know their local farmers.

Grants and local sponsorships make PoP possible. Your donation helps ensure we have funding to cover the entire PoP season of 12 weeks. It takes roughly $600 in produce, assuming 150 kids per week, for each PoP Club date.

Donations to PoP and CAFM are generally NOT tax deductible unless they constitute an appropriate business expense.

"My children and their friends have really benefitted with this program -- they have been encouraged to be good food explorers (trying new and fun fruits and veggies). And the opportunity for them to choose their own items weekly and for us to decide what to make with them was fun!"

"Every Saturday in the summer we can't wait to get down to the PoP stand at the farmers' market. It has been a great way to get our kids to try new vegetables each week and to get to know some of the local farms as well."
