Only 20% of Latino adults in the U.S. hold a bachelor’s degree—a number far below the national average. Stronger Together Unidos began with the dream of two young Latina high school students—Dayani and Irasema—who refused to accept that gap as inevitable.

Stronger Together Unidos is a student-led initiative built by and for first-generation students, immigrants, and children of immigrants who know firsthand the barriers to higher education…and the power of community in overcoming them.

In honor of Latin Heritage Month, Stronger Together Unidos is launching their first fundraising campaign to gather support for the inaugural Herencia Forward Mentorship Program. This program serves to support Latino students who aspire to higher education, providing them with the knowledge, resources, and networks they need to succeed. Every dollar raised through this campaign goes directly back into the community, funding programming costs such as mentorship workshops, college readiness sessions, and support services.

The inaugural cohort of Herencia Forward mentees have big dreams. Their roots span more than 5 countries and aim to become leading lawyers, doctors, and engineers.

In this time of uncertainty and anti-immigrant sentiment, supporting these young Latinos and their educational aspirations is how we honor our heritage while shaping the future.
