Sacred Alliances: A Journey Through Colombia's Indigenous and Ecovillage Movements

I've been back a little over a week now and the lessons, the connections, the energies and the opportunities generated in my nearly monthlong journey to Colombia continue to reverberate. As I wrote in my last blog entry, I returned with four notebooks, many hours of interviews with Indigenous leaders, peace community members, and ecovillage pioneers, along with several gigabytes of photos and a heart and mind filled to bursting.

This journey has already led to clear next steps: I'll be returning to Colombia in March with Lakota elder Cheryl Angel and youth organizer Eleanor Ferguson to provide international presence for the Peace Community of San José de Apartadó during their 28th anniversary. Additionally, I've been invited by Arhuaca leader Ati Quigua and Mamo Kwanemakú to return three more times to deepen our understanding of the Law of Origin in the Heart of the World.

Your contributions have helped forge vital connections between Indigenous wisdom keepers, peace activists, and ecovillage innovators working to defend sacred territories and create regenerative futures. I'm deeply grateful to each person who made this possible, and I look forward to sharing more stories and developments in the weeks and months ahead.

I'd like to offer an extra special thanks to DL Hamilton, who believed I could do it, and made the first contribution; to the beloved Liora Adler, who contributed from the Great Beyond through the love and kindness of her duality here on Earth, Andrew Langford; to Sydney Solis, who contributed on behalf of her late sister, the unforgettable Jean E. R. Straub; to Kenneth Wilbanks, whom I have never met but who supported us substantially through a magical and completely unexpected contribution to my Venmo; and to the wise and benevolent Marz Attar, who put us over the finish line, now and many times in the past. Many, many thanks to each and every one of you who gave generously, and with personal sacrifice. I see you, I give strong gratitude to and for each of you, and I promise to continue making it worth your while.

With profound thanks,

Tracy

Dear Tracy, Greetings from Santa Fe in New Mexico. I found your beautiful November 10 post on the Esperanza Project website this morning after listening to Sabine's latest Ring of Power update on Youtube and learning of her upcoming trip to the Arhuaco people in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. While spending time following the links in your post and watching snippets of your documentaries, I felt deeply touched by your spirit, work and aspirations, and wishing to contribute to your Defend the Sacred Alliance pilgrimage, and what it will help make more visible to the rest of the world. I will invite a few friends this week to do the same. Being part of the Water Stories community (which is dedicated to protecting and regenerating watersheds around the world), I felt really happy to learn that Cheryl Angel and Rajendra Singh will both be part of the trip too. Wishing you all a deeply heart-opening and life-affirming visit, and I am looking forward to reading your updates ✨🙏✨

A Big Thank You - y Un Gracias Grande!

Many, many thanks to those who have contributed generously to The Esperanza Project campaign to support and document the 2024 Pilgrimage of the Defend the Sacred Alliance (DSA).

Your dollars and pesos will go to support coverage of DSA's vital work and the struggle of the Arhuaco people to save the Heart of the World from extractive industries, with which DSA members are risking health and safety to stand in solidarity.

We are now more than 30% of the way to our goal, thanks to DL Hamilton, Sydney Solis, Trina Brunk, Kevin and Pamela Hicks,Pam Benton, Vicki Boyd-Kennedy, Dee Dokken and, from the Great Beyond, Liora Adler via Andrew Langford.

✨

Also to Maite Cortes of the Colectivo Ecologista Jalisco, who is not only donating but helping to get the word out in Mexico.

Important note: If we manage to exceed our targeted goal, any extra funds will support further coverage of work being done across the planet to defend the sacred.
