MLK Diversity-Engagement Foundation's Story

MLK Diversity-Engagement Foundation

Why Give? Because strong readers become confident learners. Because college access should begin long before senior year. Because students and families deserve the tools, exposure, and support needed to pursue higher education successfully. Because global learning experiences expand perspectives, strengthen leadership skills, and connect communities across generations and cultures.

Your gift supports educational growth from early literacy through college readiness. Through the MLK DEF Educational Growth Program, students in grades K–3 receive targeted literacy support and parent engagement resources that help build strong academic foundations, while high school students gain access to college application preparation workshops designed to increase higher education opportunities and success. Your gift supports the 2026 HBCU Tour & Experience giving a target of 100 high school students free access to HBCU colleges and universities in November 2026.

Funding also helps expand the International Panel & Global Classroom Conversations (GCC) initiative, transforming a successful 14-year local youth and elder engagement model into a year-round hybrid learning platform connecting Loudoun County students, educators, and community leaders with diverse voices and perspectives from around the world. This investment strengthens educational equity, intergenerational learning, cross-cultural dialogue, and community engagement.

Seeking $5K in funding to support the MLK DEF Educational Growth Program by strengthening K–12 literacy and college readiness initiatives, HBCU Tour & Experience trip, expanding global classroom and international dialogue opportunities for Loudoun County youth and elders, and increasing educational access through year-round academic and cultural enrichment programming.
