While most young people are focused on homework, sports, and spending time with friends, hundreds of local children quietly carry another responsibility: they help care for a parent, grandparent, sibling, or other loved one who is ill, disabled, elderly, or otherwise vulnerable.

These remarkable youth, known as Caregiving Youth, often assist with meals, medications, personal care, household responsibilities, and emotional support, all while trying to keep up with school and be kids.

The American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY) is the only organization in the United States dedicated exclusively to identifying and supporting Caregiving Youth. Through individualized support at school, at home, and in the community, AACY helps these young caregivers succeed academically, build resilience, and experience opportunities every child deserves.
