join our host Karen Collins for a beloved community tradition

💗 Cookies For a Cause 💗

Sunday, February 5th from 1:30 to 3:00 PM

Learn how to decorate cookies like a pro! Karen is the owner of Bisousweet Confections and ABUW Board of Directors Co-Chair.

Have your cookies and eat them, too! There are 2 ways to enjoy this special event:

💗 At the new home of Bisousweet Confections.

See where all the magic happens at the brand new Bisousweet bakery! Karen will demonstrate her pastry chef skills while sharing some of her favorite baking stories and tips. Participants will decorate heart-shaped cookies to take home and share with loved ones. Bisousweet Confections is located at 554 Willard Street in Leominster. (Participants must be at least 16 due to safety regulations.)

💗 Virtually from the comfort of your own home.

Pick up your delicious cookie kit with everything you will need at the ABUW office on Saturday, February 4, 10AM-12PM or 4PM-6PM. Karen’s pastry demonstration will be live-streamed through Zoom as participants decorate their heart-shaped cookies at home. Children and grandchildren are encouraged to join in! Zoom links will be sent out the day before the event.

$50 per person for the onsite event - This option includes everything you’ll need to decorate your own cookies during the event.

$50 per ticket for the virtual event - This option includes a Cookie Kit and Zoom access to the event.

As a gesture of appreciation, you'll receive 2 tickets to each of ABUW's community fundraising events this year, including Cookies for a Cause on February 5th, Run. Walk. 100% of funds raised go to Acton-Boxborough United Way's Community Care Fund. Thanks to support of community members like you, this year ABUW has:

💗 Fulfilled emergency requests from 42 local families. With grants to help cover their basic rent and utilities, these neighbors didn’t have to make the tough choice between housing and medical services, transportation to work, or buying winter clothes for their children.

💗 Vetted and provided community impact grants to 21 agencies supporting childcare scholarships, food security partners, domestic violence services, financial empowerment programs, and more.

💗 Launched a multi-year community mental health project in partnership with Emerson Health to break down stigma and tailor local programming.

💗 Installed a Born Learning Trail at NARA Park, turning trips to the park into learning experiences by providing caregivers meaningful ways to engage their young children, many of whom experienced learning gaps due to the pandemic.

💗 Created opportunities for neighbors to connect and learn from one another through events like Chalk the Walk, Community-Building Circles, Run.Walk.United 5K, storytelling, and community speakers -- plus initiatives including a central site for local volunteer opportunities with dozens of organizations (myABUW.org) and greeting new residents through the Welcome Initiative.

💗 Led our network of community coalitions in shared learning and cross-collaboration, including the Food Security Taskforce, Racial Justice Collaborative, and Mental Health Coalition.
