The mission of the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) is to elevate the standard for effective professional practice in working with sororities and fraternities in higher education. Accordingly, the purpose of the AFA Foundation is to support AFA, its individual members, and our wider fraternal communities in their fraternal work.

Our Goal

Our goal for our 2022 Day of Giving is $40,000, which represents our most aspirational Day of Giving goal to date. $40,000 in contributions to the AFA Foundation allows our Association to respond faster with up-to-date professional development, build a world-class infrastructure that would transform how we serve our professional community, engage industry experts in the work of our professional community, and center equity and access by diminishing financial barriers to engagement.

$40,000 could fund a full implementation for new data systems that would transform our access to and understanding of data that leads to stronger persistence and retention of fraternity/sorority professionals.

$40,000 could ensure our First 90 Days early careers professionals program has the resources to thrive for the next 6 years.

$40,000 could provide access to EVERY AFA MEMBER to attend a regional drive-in program free of charge.

$40,000 could provide access to over 90 professionals historically underrepresented at our Annual Meeting.

As the Association prepares to unveil its upcoming strategic plan, 'Forward to 50: Elevating AFA into its Next 50 Years', it is critical that our Association build the necessary resources that will allow the strategic objectives embedded within the plan to come to reality. Are you a volunteer for AFA? Join RISE Partnerships in celebrating our AFA volunteers! RISE has been a longtime supporter of AFA and of its volunteers, and will match all donations dollar-for-dollar made by AFA volunteers up to $1,500!

What is the AFA Foundation Day of Giving?

The AFA Foundation Day of Giving is an annual social media-based, online giving, 24-hour fundraising event taking place Wednesday, June 8, 2022. This is the 5th year the AFA Foundation has hosted the event.

Where can I give? What do I need to know?

This year, the AFA Foundation Day of Giving is using a donation portal hosted on the Givebutter platform. This site will allow donors to see in real-time the outcomes of the Day of Giving. Givebutter does use tips and fees in their credit card processing, and below are a few notes on those:

What are tips? - Tips are an easy way for people to support Givebutter’s free and transparent business model. The tip amount defaults to $2, but please feel free to change that to zero.
What are the fees? - There are two types of transaction fees on Givebutter: platform fees and processing fees. Platform fees goes to Givebutter to pay for costs like website hosting and support. Processing fees goes to credit card and payment processing companies like Visa and American Express.

Is there a suggested financial donation amount?

To celebrate our rich history, the AFA Foundation created a $19.76 minimum gift amount for the Day of Giving. But, all gifts are welcome! Also, donors can text AFAF2022 to 53-555, and they will receive a link to donate instantly via text. The Givebutter site is fully integrated with Venmo, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Can I honor or celebrate someone with my donation?

Yes! There is a custom field on the donation form where you can indicate who the donation honors or celebrates.

How do I share I’ve donated?

Use the hashtag #AFAGives to share your giving on social media.
