🎓 Fund the Truth: The HBCU Local News Drive Help the AFRO Hire 3 HBCU Correspondents by March 2026 For 133 years, the AFRO has been the trusted voice of the African American community. As the nation’s longest-running family-owned Black newspaper, our mission is to inform, uplift, and empower through trusted journalism, advocating for social and political change globally.

The Challenge: Our legacy—and the integrity of community news—is threatened by an unstable, advertising-dependent model. We must transition to a self-sustaining membership model funded by the community we serve.

Our Immediate Goal: We are launching a critical, time-limited campaign from November to March 2026 to raise $133k. This funding will immediately hire and equip three dedicated HBCU correspondents to restore vital newsroom depth.

Your Investment Directly Funds Impact at Coppin State, Morgan State, and Bowie State.

Holding Power Accountable: Reporters will consistently scrutinize the use of state and federal funds, ensuring promised investments for our HBCUs are delivered effectively.

Amplifying Marginalized Voices: We will give a direct platform to HBCU students, faculty, and alumni to share experiences and drive institutional and policy changes.

Fostering an Informed Citizenry: In an era of increasing disinformation, we provide trusted, fact-based journalism on issues of racial equity in education, strengthening civic dialogue for the entire community.

Content will focus on social and political discourse that shapes the HBCU environment, verified through published articles.

The AFRO needs your support to ensure that the stories that built this nation are never silenced. Donate today to secure an on-the-ground voice for our local HBCUs.
