At Infinite Love for Kids, we fund research in $25,000 increments, which means for this AML project specifically, we can immediately send funds to Dr. Kathrin Bernt, MD (CHOP), and Dr. Kathy Fange Liu, PhD (Penn), the moment we hit our $25,000 goal. Dr. Bernt and Dr. Fange Liu are working together, along with their teams, to uncover safer, more effective treatments for children with AML.

Because of people like you, we’ve already funded necessary AML-specific research at UC San Francisco, Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, and City of Hope. Now, we’re supporting Dr. Kathrin Bernt, MD, and Dr. Kathy Fange Liu, PhD, along with their incredible team, as they explore new treatment combinations that could change the future for kids diagnosed with AML.

“It is frustrating that chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant are the only options we can offer for AML patients, and that progress towards better therapies is so slow. Childhood cancer research is woefully underfunded. Less than 5% of the NIH/NCI’s budget goes to children. Biotech and pharma companies rarely study pediatric cancers, newly developed drugs for adult cancers often do not help children, and if they do, they often reach the pediatric community with years of delay. Kindhearted families that are passionate about children fund much of the progress that is being made.
