Join Healing Ribbons for our third annual fashion show, "The Art of Healing: Stories, Stitches, and the Sacred." This unique event celebrates the power of cultural healing and is the culmination of a year-long program that integrates therapeutic talking circles, regalia making, fellowship meals, and traditional ceremonies. We create culturally relevant healing opportunities where participants transform personal stories of grief, survival, and healing into powerful artistic expressions.

Healing Ribbons was founded in 2022 by Tami Buffalohead McGill and Rebecca Sullivan on the belief that there is power in gathering and that our matriarchs and their families need a safe space to share, celebrate, heal, and create. The first annual Art of Healing Fashion Show in 2023 was the direct request of our participants, who wanted to showcase their work and give visibility to Indigenous women. These women often carry the heavy weight of caring for their families while simultaneously navigating contemporary issues facing Native people, including cultural preservation and healing historical and generational trauma.

This past year has been a period of remarkable growth for Healing Ribbons. We have hired three new staff—an Executive Director, a Program Coordinator, and a Program Support Specialist—and opened a dedicated facility in the heart of Midtown Omaha. This expansion has allowed us to increase our program's reach and better support our community, demonstrating our commitment to our mission of uplifting Indigenous women, Two-Spirit Relatives, and their families. We are humbled to continue this vital work and believe this year's event will not only showcase the strength of our community but also celebrate our growth.

Each Indigenous designer has meticulously interwoven their experiences into their unique garment pieces and regalia. Through the creative process, they tell their story with every color choice, fabric and ribbon placement, and cultural adornment.

Healing Ribbons invites you to discover and celebrate these stories with us in an afternoon dedicated to showcasing the profound connection between art, culture, and healing. A light reception featuring traditional Indigenous food prepared by Chef Anthony Warrior will follow. By honoring each participant's journey, we create a space where being both seen and heard is integral to the healing process for everyone involved.
